CLIVAR Working Group on Seasonal to Interannual Prediction

Welcome to the CHFP Data Page. Here you will find guidance on preparing, serving and using data from the Climate-system Historical Forecast Project (CHFP). Please read the relevant guide(s) before starting work, and please provide feedback on these web pages to Anna.Pirani@noc.soton.ac.uk. Note that these pages are still in an early stage of development, and the data conventions described are still subject to possible change. Note also that the management of these pages is essentially an unfunded activity, and support to individual users is not provided. The data centres which actually serve the data are responsible for any issues with the service they provide.

Data is provided in netCDF via THREDDS or OpenDAP servers. In most cases aggregation servers are used, and data retrievals from a single data host will typically contain output from multiple models.

CHFP Participants
The table below lists the models currently listed as participating in CHFP, and shows the location(s) of the server(s) containing the data. In some cases (shown -) the data is not yet available. Note that the web addresses refer to top level pages at the data server, which should contain full documentation of the model datasets as well as access to the data itself.

Table notes
The European-funded ENSEMBLES project defined two experimental protocols. The first, "Ensembles stream 1", is essentially a set of test integrations, covering the 11 years 1991-2001 and with May and November start dates only. The second, stream 2, is essentially equivalent to the CHFP protocol.
