This workshop had three sessions: On the first day a progress meeting of the ETCCDI was held. On the second and third days there was the joint ETCCDI/ENSEMBLES workshop on "Extremes in a changing climate". On the last day a progress meeting was held of Work Package 5.4 ("Evaluation of extreme events") of the EU-FP6 integrated project ENSEMBLES (see: http://www.knmi.nl/samenw/ensembles_rt5/) and, in parallel the meeting, on "Issues of scaling"
