Workshops

The ETCCDI organised a workshop on "Exploring changes in South East Asia temperature and precdiction extreme indices" in Ha Noi, Viet Nam from 3rd-7th December 2007. The report of the workshop can be found here

The ETCCDI, in association with WMO and the UK-Met Office, organised a workshop on Climate Data Homogenization and Climate Change Indices to be held in Brazzaville, Congo, on 2-27 April 2007. [More...]

More widely, the ET has accomplished a series of regional workshops, covering southern Asia (Feb 05), Central America (Nov 04), SW Asia (Oct 04), South America (Aug 04) and southern Africa (May 04). Co-sponsorship through GCOS, IPCC, START, WMO/CCl and WCRP/CLIVAR as well as involved national agencies and individual scientists are highly appreciated. These workshops promoted regional climate change detection and filled in gaps in global climate data sets. The map below shows the areas covered by the recent 5 workshops (from Tom Peterson, NCDC, US).

The ET continuously provides input to "WMO Annual Statements on the status of the Global Climate".

Maps of data gaps for daily precipitation, maximum and minimum temperatures are available, and will be updated as the progress goes on (thanks to Lisa Alexander, Hadley Centre, UK).
